Ecology, evolution, energy processes, genetics and cellular structure and function are primary
topics of study. Emphasis is on the interactions between living and nonliving things as well as the
interrelationships between living organisms (including humans). Issues in science, technology,
and society will also be explored. The laboratory will emphasize the process of science, and
students will practice skills scientists use to answer questions about the natural world. (Smith)
This course accompanies the general biology 104 course. The course gives us the opportunity to have a deeper engagement into the subjects we go over in class. Additionally, it allows us to apply the concepts which have been discussed in the course. Furthermore, the course teaches us many tools which will be useful as we further our education and prepare us for our career. The lab reports which we write correlate well with the tools, and skills that we learn in English. In addition, within my species report which can be found in the bio lab project folder, it can be observed that I utilized the skills which have been developing through my English 110 course. Skills such as MLA format, and active reading have helped me both form my paper, and have a more in depth engagement with the text I am using for research.
