Haas practices one concept of the discourse so the reader can see first hand the concept which she is discussing.
Haas is once again implying that scientific discourse is written with a specific intent.

Haas’ idea that when engaging in scientific literature or discourse you should have knowledge of the discourse prior to engaging this is similar to Gee’s idea of metaknowledge.
