1. In my paper I showed good work and connections with Gee’s concepts. One example is when I was discussing how the results section of the IMRAD format is similar to Gee’s concepts of practice and relationships. “This is important because it will allow the writer to show their comprehension of the results and form a case around it, as well as, possible reasons for the results. This is similar to Gee’s idea of the practice and relationship aspects of Gee’s seven building tasks.”(p 2). In my final draft I will most likely try to make connection with Haas to give more text examples.
  2. “We use language to signal what sort of relationship we have” (Gee 34). When Gee says this he is stressing the importance of displaying a clear stance on what the information which you are presenting in your writing. This relates to the discussion section of the IMRAD format. This is because both of them refer to the proper expression of your results within your literature.(p. 2). In this section of my paper I use a quote from Gee to support my claim.
  3. In my third paragraph I discuss the rhetoric-framework which Haas describes, however, it does not flow well off of the previous paragraph. Additionally the quote I used does not help support my claim as well as I would have liked it to.
  4. Science discourse is something which is developed of a period of time submerging yourself into the discourse, and surrounding yourself with others in the discourse. In addition, it is essential to utilize tools such as the IMRAD format which Nair and Nair discuss, and the building tasks which Gee describes. These tools are crucial to successfully mastering the discourse. An individual also needs to understand the reasons they are as Gee says “practicing” the concepts and characteristics of the discourse.
